Kentucky Bourbon Slush

Growing up in Bourbon Country, the only way I knew to drink a glass of bourbon was neat, on the rocks, or mixed with a Coca-Cola. That was until I visited Steve’s family in northern Kentucky for the holidays many years ago.

Bourbon Slushies were always on their menu and I learned very quickly that there are no rules with cocktails. While there have been a lot of changes through the years there is one thing that remains the same. We continue to enjoy Pat’s slushie recipe. Steve’s brother, Casey, is now in charge of bringing this family favorite to our gatherings. Creating simple traditions was important to Steve’s parents, I am happy to add my curious twist to this Hennigan family favorite.

Combining my favorite flavors along with my favorite bourbon creates a cocktail worthy of becoming a classic. Savor the long summer evenings while they last and enjoy the best of summer’s flavors in a glass. This refreshing cocktail won’t last long either!

4 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced

2 tablespoons honey

2 cups lemonade

1 cup bourbon

2 cups ice

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add sliced peaches, honey, bourbon and ice to blender. Combine until slushie consistency.
