Celebrate Spring

Celebrating the Start of Spring

After being cooped up all winter, I am ready to reconnect with friends and enjoy the crisp spring air! If you’re also looking to host a small gathering to welcome the start of the new season, keep reading—I’m sharing how to set the scene, what to serve, and a few of my top hosting hacks to ensure your get together goes off without a hitch.

Set the Scene with Decor:

Springtime and fresh blooms go hand in hand, so grab some bouquets at your local grocery store or farmer’s market and scatter them throughout the house. Place one on the coffee table, a couple more on your dining table, and the like. I recommend scooping up a mix of tulips, daffodils, and hydrangeas to infuse your home with color, which is much needed following the dreary winter months!

Don’t forget about the power of light in transforming your space. If you’re going to be entertaining outside, string up some bistro lights for extra magic. If you’re indoors, light a candle or two. I love our Grapefruit and Fig candle for a beautiful clean, fresh scent that is extra appropriate for this time of year.

Serve a Mix of Bites and Drinks:

I love serving cheese or charcuterie boards during casual gatherings. For a real crowd pleaser, put one together featuring my very own pimento cheese and beer cheese alongside fresh, seasonal vegetables and pickled garnishes.

Every good party has a signature drink! Opting for a signature drink will make any gathering more memorable and can also help to keep things simple; guests aren’t confronted with a whole bar’s worth of options. Need some drink inspiration? I recommend whipping up a classic old fashioned or bourbon slushie using our Boozy Cherries. (Pick up an extra jar to keep on hand as a hostess gift the next time a friend invites you to swing by!).

I find it easy to batch and chill my signature cocktail for two days ahead of time. This prep is well worth it, as when the party rolls around, guests can serve themselves (and I, the hostess, can be mingling with as many people as possible, not playing bartender all evening!). Of course, be mindful to also set out some non-alcoholic options as well as some garnishes (guests will enjoy jazzing up mocktails using citrus, mint, and the like) and classics like beer and wine.

Set the Mood:

A fun and festive party playlist is going to put even the shyest of guests into a social mood. Not a music aficionado? Recruit your Gen Z child or neighbor to help curate some tunes on Spotify.

Send Guests Home with a Party Favor:

Yes, even adults love a good party favor! I like to gift people something that’s consumable—no one needs more stuff. Why not send each guest home with a jar of  Bourbon Blueberry Jam and a bag of homemade biscuit mix? Wrap these items in beautiful tissue or cellophane and add a handwritten gift tag strung on a beautiful ribbon to tie it all together. Your guests will appreciate your thoughtful gesture!

Happy Spring,

MK
